    Mr. Dennis Webber, owner of Costal Tile Installation, installed a new walk in shower to replace an existing tub in late 2010. Nine months later, wetness and mold were spotted in the adjoining room. Upon further investigation, it became obvious that the installation was sub-standard and lacked the most basic and critical component, namely a rubber liner under the web-bed shower base. Further, the walls of the shower were basic sheetrock instead of the cement board quoted or moisture resistant sheetrock. The sub-standard work was verified by a contractor / licensed home inspector. The wetness and mold were a direct result of sub-standard work which allowed water to penetrate the tiled floor and wet-bed. Mr. Webber was contacted and he stated he was out of town for some time and unsure when or if he would return to Hilton Head. Mr. Webber also denied the sub-standard work until pictures were presented. Despite Mr. Webber’s promise that he would honor his work and pay the cost to repair, he has since disappeared and has not returned phone calls or emails, and has not paid the $1,800 repair cost. Additional problems were found with Mr. Webber’s re-installation of a toilet while installing a new floor. Upon inspection, the wax ring was not replaced and the existing wax ring was coated with leaves and debris from sitting the toilet outside in a garden while installing a new floor. Mr. Webber is a sub-standard installer, a liar and should never be hired for any work in my opinion.
