My home is only four years old and I have BLACK spots all over my Hardie Plank. It is obvious that non-galvanized nails were placed directly into the Hardie Plank-the builder stated to my husband that he does not install Hardie Plank as the manufacturer recommends-he prefers to install it another way or his way? My cousin that is a home builder in Houston was horrified when he saw the damage to the home. Hardie Plank has warranties IF the product is installed correctly-My 4 year old Hardie Plank has black spots every few inches apart and the builder, Daniel W. Casebier did come by after a call but offered NO help.
I am so disappointed and frustrated and I really do not know where to turn. I have been told that there is an extended warranty for issues such as this. Do I need to file a formal complaint with a licensing board?
