    Home Addition/ In Law Suite

    Over the past year my wife and I have been planning on building an in-law suite for her parents. It was a major investment and undertaking on our part. We've met with multiple contractors and there was one that stood out to us. Eric and his team at Design Build Remodeling Group walked us through their entire process. Understanding our financing options was the biggest part for us. After months of planning and building, we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thanks for the care and effort you've put into our home! We highly recommend this company.

    BUYER BEWARE!! We hired Eric Swanson, who was operating under the name Trademark Remodeling Inc., in 2009 to build an addition onto our home. Trademark broke ground in September 2009 and, in April/May 2010 after he was paid for the job, Eric ordered his employees and sub-contractors to walk off the job before the work was completed.

    It is now late 2013 and the work still has never been completed and we have had to pay out of our own pocket to replace/re-do many things that were done incorrectly. As per our contract, we began arbitration proceedings against Eric Swanson and Trademark Remodeling. The arbitrator found in our favor on 3/29/11 and ordered Trademark Remodeling Inc. to pay us a judgment in the amount of $83,408.25 to be paid to us no later than 30 days past the ruling date.

    Thirty days passed with no payment from Trademark Remodeling Inc. We filed paperwork with the Carroll County Court System to begin enforcement proceedings. At that point, numerous delays began in the form of Eric Swanson, on behalf of Trademark Remodeling Inc., filing numerous motions against us in an effort to modify/vacate the arbitration ruling. Months of court filings and hearings passed as well as our case being removed from the Carroll County Court jurisdiction and moved to the The United States District Court for the State of Maryland per Eric Swanson's request and, just as the arbitrator found in our favor, so did the United States District Court who denied Eric Swanson and Trademark Remodeling Inc.'s claims that they brought against us. The judge ordered that Trademark Remodeling Inc. pay us our full amount awarded in arbitration of $83,408.25 within 60 days (2 months) of him signing the order which was dated August 6, 2012. It has now been over a year since the judge signed the order and Eric Swanson and Trademark Remodeling Inc. STILL HAVE NOT PAID US A DIME as they continue to ignore the court order that was rendered in August 2012.

    In addition, during the time in which the United States District Court judge was deliberating over the claims brought against us by Eric Swanson and Trademark Remodeling Inc. but WELL after the arbitrator awarded us $83,408.25, Trademark Remodeling Inc. was shut down and a new entity, Design Build Remodeling Group, was formed. Eric Swanson's wife left her job of 15+ years, their home in Eldersburg/Sykesville was put up for rent in April 2012 and rented out in July 2012 (according to real estate documents) and Eric Swanson and his wife moved to their vacation home in Colorado. I'll let you, the consumer who is reading this review, put two and two together on why those events took place.
