By Julianne M.September 9, 2018conversion of sun porch to 4-season room

AnonymousAugust 19, 2013
I hired this contractor in July 2013, paid a substantial down payment for the work to be performed which was promised verbally in July, I should've gotten the dates put into the contract in hindsight. I can understand things being delayed but I can't understand totally ignoring your customer. They were so responsive before I gave them the money. I have called and emailed and the company numerous times who has not responded to date. I just want my money back now.

Bad News Bill
Don’t be fooled by this crook. And I don’t exaggerate. Engaged, interested in the job, appropriately persistent and responsive before we hired him. Licensed and bonded and clearly experienced. “I can get this done in 2-3 weeks,” he said, referring to the conversion of a sun porch to a four-season room. We checked his references, signed the contract, and gave him the agreed upon deposit. Boom! That was it. Things started to go downhill almost immediately: irregular hours, erratic behavior, no shows with no calls, and an excess of excuses. He would show up one day, with a detailed schedule of what he would be working on that week, and then not show up or call for a couple of days! His last appearance at our house was on July 7, 2018 when he dropped some insulation off. We have not heard from him or seen him since, despite numerous attempts to reach him. He has not responded to a single phone call, email, or text message.
It is now September 9th. We paid him for three-fourths of the work; he “completed” less than one-third of it and then disappeared off the face of the earth, leaving the porch open to the elements, the insulation and drywall stacked on the floor, his supplies scattered around (ladders, an air handler, etc.) and the place an absolute mess. We are out THOUSANDS of dollars. We drove to the address listed on the work permit he submitted: it is an empty storefront. His number is no longer in service. We have filed a police report and will soon contact the state AG and BBB to file a complaint. In the meantime, we have hired another contractor to finish the work. Our new guy and his team are doing their best to make a silk purse out of the sow’s ear this guy left behind. Simply to draw attention to my comments, I am giving him one star. But honestly, the only thing he deserves at this point is jail time.
