I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking of buying a home from this builder to do their homework. I have lived at Marbella Subdivision in Houston, Texas 77091 for three years, I am writing this review so that future home buyers are aware of what can happen if you’re not well informed, or do not ask all the questions you want. My first mistake was not having a realtor, I went directly with the builder and got screwed big time. He did not pay for the 1% closing cost like I was told, they claimed that my house was appraised under market and they didn’t think it was fair that they were going to lose out on that. (By the way it took seven months for me to move in the house). They said they would include the blinds for the house and months later they claimed that if it was not put in the contract they couldn't do anything about ( My mistake was believing everything they told me). They wanted to charge $700 for all the blinds, $500 for the garage opener. They installed the wrong color cabinets, the wrong granite counter tops, and to top it off who ever installed the cabinets did a horrible job. They lied about a lot of things just to sell the house, they never told me that the community was a private community therefore we can’t get water directly from the city of Houston, the HOA bills us. The HOA fee started at $425.00 they said it would not go up, this is my third year here and our HOA fee is $500 for the past two years. I am sure our HOA fee is going to be higher next year. The parking is a huge problem now, a lot of residents are angry, I was told that parking was not a problem, but now it is. The air condition started malfunctioning after the 1st year and still having issues with it. The backyards have a big drainage problem; the fence material they used was very cheap because now most of our yard pickets have to be replaced. The same builder will be building homes right in front of Marbella Subdivision....Do your research, PLEASE!!!!

The builder, David Rash, does not think he is responsible for anything. Cracks, uneven paint throughout, cheap material, foundation issues....overall, very poor workmanship. After calling him multiple times, I finally emailed him about the problems. He finally responded saying that the house is just settling and it is not his responsibility. With no visual evidence, he denies responsibility and brushed me off. From what I understand, all builders are responsible for their workmanship and material for the first year but for some reason he thinks he's an exception. Please don't waste time unless you want to be in my shoes right now.
BuildZoom has one simple purpose: To help you find the perfect contractor.
How we do this is more complicated. BuildZoom is a database of every licensed contractor in the United States. We work hard to figure out who the great contractors are, and who the bad contractors are.
BuildZoom combines license information on 3.5 million contractors with 70 million building permits, and over a million reviews from homeowners and the Better Business Bureau.
If you are looking for a specific contractor and you can’t find them on BuildZoom, it’s likely that they do not have a license - please contact us and we’ll try to help!
The best way to use BuildZoom is to let us recommend contractors for your remodeling projects.
Homeowners who hire through BuildZoom's free bidding system report high rates of satisfaction, and homeowners who research contractors online are twice as likely to be happy at the end of their project.
If you hire a contractor through BuildZoom, that contractor is accountable to us. We can enforce standards of behavior, mediate disputes, and guarantee satisfaction.
Read more about why hiring through BuildZoom is so effective.
We built this site to help people find great contractors, and to help people avoid bad contractors. We take this incredibly seriously, and we have a zero tolerance policy for contractors who don’t adhere to our standards.
1 million people use BuildZoom every month. Our business depends on their trust.
If a contractor does poor work, they will no longer receive leads from BuildZoom, and a negative review will be posted on their profile.
First and foremost, we rely on the recommendations of our homeowners.
10 million people a year visit BuildZoom, and they give us a lot of information. If our homeowners have a good experience with a contractor, we increase the contractor’s BuildZoom score. If our homeowner has a bad experience with a contractor, we lower their score and will never recommend them again.
In addition to feedback from our homeowners, we look at the contractor’s license history, their rating with the Better Business Bureau, and their work history.
We need to know what type of work contractors do, and where they do it. To help with this, we’ve analyzed 75 million building permits to learn about the type of work contractors perform, how much repeat business they get within a neighborhood or at a specific house, the typical cost of one of their projects, and a lot more.
We even look at the value of the houses they work on, and the income of their customers. We know exactly what type of work contractors are doing, whether it’s a huge custom home build, bathroom remodeling, restaurant build out, office tenant improvement, or small plumbing job. Our algorithms have consistently been able to use this data to identify the right contractor for any type of job.
Their score will increase or decrease based on these variables.
