The creators of the iPod left a few years ago to start their own company, Nest.com with the idea to dramatically improve our home thermostats. Their initial creation looks amazing (see the video below), and judging by all the buzz on twitter, there is going to be a huge demand for this product in the marketplace.

The thermostat looks gorgeous and the user interface is so simple as to be revolutionary. Could it get more intuitive than turning the dial clockwise for hotter, counter-clockwise for colder?  The thermostat learns from your habits, so as you turn it down at night and back up in the morning, over time it will automatically adjust the heat in your home to your preferences. Meanwhile an iPhone app lets you change the temperature in your home when you’re not even there. All this means big savings on your energy bill.

The team put great effort into making the product as easy to install as possible, even including a built-in level in the device to make sure you get it lined up straight and looking great. But its never as simple as advertised, and it seems clear that a lot of people are going to order this product and suddenly find themselves searching for somebody to help with the installation.

We’re not sure what partnerships the Nest has arranged to help with installation–likely some of the big box stores distributing the product will get in on the game with special offers for home installation. But if their deals are anything like what they charge to install a flatscreen television, you can be certain you’ll find a better deal from a home improvement professional.

If you’re purchasing one of these brand new thermostats, it’s probably because you value simplicity, elegance and control.  And the best way to achieve all those things when installing a new thermostat or doing anything else on your house is to work with BuildZoom.com-rated contractor. You’ll know you’re in good hands so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the air conditioning.
