It’s as common as a question can get.
“Do you know a good contractor? I want to get some work done on my house.”
The reason the question is asked so often is because so much of the time the answer is, “No.” We’ve all had experiences with people whose purpose it is to help make our homes better: some good, some average, and some not so good.
The truth that we all know is that good help is hard to find and just because someone has a full-page ad in your paper doesn’t mean they are any the best. In fact, it doesn’t even mean they are any good. Sometimes the best contractor is the one who doesn’t advertise because they are spending all their time doing a great job for homeowners.
So we all keep searching and we all keep asking the question.
And we care because our homes are important. Home is the place we go when we’re tired after work and want to recharge our batteries. It’s the place we eat when we’re hungry. It’s the place we raise our kids and it’s the place we were raised when we were kids. Our home is where we sleep, wake, play, fight, love, hate and live – our home is our world and we don’t want people doing things to our world who we don’t trust and that’s why we ask the question of people we trust. Because we don’t trust the full-page ad in our paper and we don’t trust the yellow pages (unless we’re desperate); we trust the people we know.
At its core, that is what BuildZoom is all about: finding good information from trusted sources and sharing it with everyone for free. We know that we’re never going to have truly good information unless everyone can participate and that’s why you don’t have to pay to join BuildZoom and when you join BuildZoom, you can be sure that we’re not going to sell your information to people who are looking for customers.
At BuildZoom, we just want you to tell your story, regardless of whether you are a contractor or a homeowner. It is in this process of sharing that we can move things forward and make sure that when the question is asked again, there is an answer that we can all feel good about.
