Get a licensed electrician to do an inspection of your service.

I would call a local licensed professional for a service call to inspect and to give you the break down of your existing set up and Q&A of what would be needed, if anything.

If you have a fusebox instead of breakers.
If you have knob and tube wiring.
Now, a Panel upgrade is not the same as a Service upgrade. Sometimes there is a 100AMP service coming to the house and its sufficient; only the panel box needs upgrading.
Its always good to upgrade your wiring and fusebox - electrical is a fire danger and should not be taken lightly.
