I suggest you speak to at least 2-3 previous costumers
and go see a project that was done by the contractor.
Personal info always helps , Good character makes a big difference.
Listen to the contractor. Are you doing this to just find out the cheapest bid? After 30 years experience in this business, I have never once seen anything come good of the cheapest bid. You don’t need the most expensive either. You just need to get what you’re paying for. Tell us what your budget is, and we can match it with the highest quality available for any range.
Be very clear on your wants and expectations from the beginning. Have the contractor explain their process and timeline so you understand what is going on through out the process. Be prepared for “hitches” and be available to answer questions.
we recommend to do your homework by researching the contractors you interview before hiring one
that will prevent lots of misunderstandings
Professional, licensed,
The planning and research phases of a home improvement project are the most critical steps in the remodeling process. The more knowledgeable and prepared a homeowner is, the more successful they will be in identifying the right contractor, and sourcing the right materials for their remodeling project. A home improvement project is a huge investment of time and money, so making sure it is done right the first time is extremely important.
In our experience it is first important to note that hiccups can happen in any project. Sometimes thing can only be discovered after a wall has been broken, without said those hiccups do not mean an unsuccessful project. The most important thing you can do as a client is provide a contractor with a budget that you are not willing to go over, fully communicate all the work that you are interested in having done before the project begins, keep an open mind to alternative solutions, and work with a contractor you trust.
i recommend the customer to go online or to your local supply store and look at the items you want to add or replace in your project . pick at least two options per item you would like in this project . this way depending on overall cost you can opt for the least expensive or the higher priced item depending on your overall budget .doing your homework and having a good idea as to what you want and expect of your project helps the contractor get a better insight to get a accurate quote to you in a timely manner .
Hire the best general contracting company with the most experience you can find. Someone who isn’t the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Someone who doesn’t make you shell out an outlandish amount of money to sign a proposal together. Someone who can answer every question you have. Leave your job in his hands, and you’ll be happy with the results.
