We had a new sewer line installed two years ago. It has settled and is full of soupy water all the way to the street. A plumbing company that we reached through Thumbtack recommended installing a grinder and running a new 2 inch pipe to the street for about $25,000. We are concerned about the grinder breaking, the noise, and the potential smell from venting. We have also read that it can be difficult to sell a house with a grinder. This plumbing company is now reevaluating how they could fix this problem without digging up and reinstalling the existing sewer line and not using a grinder.
