It\u2019s been awhile since we last looked at the construction of the Tesla Gigafactory.<\/a> Since our last post, the number of permits issued for the project has almost doubled and the estimated job value of construction has passed $1 billion. The recent permits also include the largest single permit issued for the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

In total, the Tesla Gigafactory has been issued 153 building permits from Storey County Community Development. The permits are associated with an estimated $1.03 billion in construction costs. To receive these permits Tesla has paid $5.58 million in fees to Storey County.<\/span><\/p>\n

After scanning through these permits one thing that stood out was the number of permits that mentioned an addendum. In fact, 29 permits, for a total of $542.65 million of construction work mention an addendum to a previous part of the project. In these permits, an addendum refers to a supplemental permit that makes changes to a previous permit filed for the project. The job value of these permits is the additional construction costs of these changes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Take a look at the permits below to see all the changes Tesla has made to the Gigafactory, including one estimated to cost almost half the total construction value of the project so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of the other permits have been related to the installation and anchoring of the equipment needed for the factory. \u00a0Other interesting permits include a nitrogen yard, a thermal energy storage tank, and the Panasonic equipment installed in Section B and C. \u00a0In addition, the installation and expansion of the contractor accommodation indicated the number of construction workers on site has increased.<\/span><\/p>\n
