After spending hours looking into what construction is going on we have picked 6 projects that we think deserve a little extra attention. This week&#8217;s projects came from alerts we have created for large projects, university construction, Facebook construction, and multifamily housing. <\/span><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.spokesman.com\/photos\/2016\/08\/24\/SRX_MYRTLE_WOLDSON_7_t1140.jpg?abf36d44fcda22a1f7041162086f31df6a374511\" width=\"931\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gonzaga University\u2019s new Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center takes a step forward. On March 30th, a building permit for the project was submitted to Spokane&#8217;s building department and is now under review. \u00a0According to the permit, the project is estimated to cost $35 million &#8211; $5 million more than the reported initial estimate. The 58,500 square foot building will have a 750-seat theater and a 150- seat recital hall. The building will have two basement levels, a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0main<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> level, a balcony level with an exterior balcony, and upper technical catwalk levels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/property-info\/211-E-Desmet-Ave-spokane-wa\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Track the project and learn more.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1><strong>Whittier Choice Housing Development<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.poah.org\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/flexslider_full\/public\/property-photos\/Whittier_2016_e.jpg?itok=jiTZy_Ju\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In December, the Boston Housing Authority made the Whittier Choice housing project possible with a $30 million grant to help with construction costs. On March 29th, Boston&#8217;s building department issued a permit for each of the two buildings. \u00a0The permits indicate that together the buildings will cost $131 million to construct. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/property-info\/4-lucy-st-dorchester-ma\">One of the buildings<\/a> will be a 6-story, 215-unit residential building, which is estimated to cost $62 million. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/property-info\/25-jan-karski-wy-dorchester-ma\">The second building<\/a> will be a 5-story, 260-unit residential building intended for low-income housing, which is estimated to cost $69 million. In addition to housing units, the first floor of each building will be dedicated to retail space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/property-info\/25-jan-karski-wy-dorchester-ma\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Track the project and learn more. <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1><strong>131 Beverly Condominiums<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-619024\" title=\"131 Beverly Street building, Lovejoy Wharf\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.streetwise.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2015\/04\/Screen-Shot-2015-04-27-at-1.19.40-PM-1024x554.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"554\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On March 28th, a building permit for the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">131 Beverly condos at Lovejoy Wharf<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was granted a certificate of occupancy by Boston&#8217;s building department. The \u00a0155-foot tall building in Boston\u2019s north end will have 175 residential units for a total of 210,000 square feet. Related Beal is the developer of the project. The 12-story apartment building will be located in Denver\u2019s Uptown district on 1901 N Grant Street. \u00a0Colorado-based developer Mckinney is responsible for the project. \u00a0The 211-unit space was designed by Craine Architecture and will be constructed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/contractor\/weitz-company-llc-the\">The Weitz Company. <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/property-info\/1901-N-Grant-St-denver-co\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Track the project and learn more.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Altman Development<\/strong> <\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/web.tampabay.com\/resources\/images\/dti\/rendered\/2016\/03\/500716227_16954163_8col.jpg\" alt=\"Under a revised plan, Altis Grand Central, shown in this rendering, will keep a live oak tree and alter the building appearance.\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On March 28th, a handful of building permits were issued by Tampa&#8217;s building department for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildzoom.com\/contractor\/altman-contractors-inc\">Altman Development&#8217;s<\/a> 314 unit apartment complex<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In addition to the residential units, the development will include a spa, pool, sun deck, bowling alley, 644 parking spaces, and 9,340 square feet of commercial space.
