Very long building process. Way too many projects going on at once. Will tell you a time frame and not adhere to it or get you even close. Very hard to get a hold of with warranty issues.

Terrible company. If you’re thinking about building with them please listen to me and DO NOT waste your time. We originally met with them in August 2021 to start the build process. They told us it could take up to a month to get our floor plan finalized which was totally fine and then 10 months from digging to complete the house. We didn’t get a finished floor plan from them until DECEMBER. They would stop communicating with us for weeks sometimes MONTHS at a time and always have some sort of excuse as to why. They showed us a floor plan we liked and we only wanted to make a few adjustments and that turned into them doing a customized floor plan that we didn’t even request. At one point the draftsman did have Covid for a couple weeks (supposedly, can’t trust anything that they said so who knows if he really did or not) so that did account for a few weeks out of the 4 months it took them. There was no direction or communication from them on their part it’s like they didn’t even want to work with us from the start. By the time we got our floor plan, 4 months later, it was a carbon copy of a floor plan from Legacy Builders. It took them 4 entire months to copy and paste a floor plan from another local builder. THEN it took them an additional 3 months to get a bid on how much the house would cost. At the end of February they FINALLY got us our bid and it was $100,000 OVER our budget that we reiterated to them a dozen times. 7 months had passed with absolutely nothing to show for it. Their excuse was that with customized homes it’s impossible to know the price until you get the bid and then you have to work backwards from there. Not once in the 7 months before did they EVER mention that. We told them our budget over and over and they just acted like the house we were doing floor plans for with their draftsman would be in budget. We would have expected them to tell us if something was out of our budget prior like a good experienced builder would have. We couldn’t even reserve a lot because Avid told us we needed a signed contract to reserve a lot in the development we wanted (Highland View). After 7 months the prices of the lots we wanted increased, interest rates increased, everything increased. They told us since it came out 100K over budget we would have to start over from scratch!!!!!! We were SOOOO patient with them the entire 7 month process even when they didn’t reach out to us for months at a time and it was heartbreaking to tell them our budget over and over and over and have them design a floor plan we fell in love with just to have them rip it away after so much time invested. If having gone with a different builder our house would’ve been done in that same amount of time. We met with Schneider Custom Homes the beginning of March and we had our floor plan within a couple of weeks and within a month and a half already had our foundation poured!!!! Oh and guess what, they were able to reserve our lot immediately without needing a signed contract, weird since Avid told us we couldn’t reserve a lot without a contract (just more lies). There’s so much more they put us through, if you’d like to reach out to me I’d be happy to send you all of our email correspondences with Lois so you can see how miserable of a company they are. Don’t waste your time with them, find a builder who actually has their stuff together and doesn’t treat their home buyers like they’re a nuisance or belittle them. I debated on writing this because of the amount of information I had to include to get my point across of how bad they suck, but with the 2022 Spring Parade of homes just having taken place and them having two houses in it, I’m hoping other potential home buyers don’t fall for their antics. Go with ANY other builder or be prepared to be led on and not have a finished house for 16-24 months. I have had homeowners who built with Avid reach out to me and say they had the same terrible experience but even worse. We had always wondered how other peoples experiences have been with them and it turns out they treat all their homeowners horrible. If you’d like to reach out to me the homeowners said they’d be happy to share their experience with others directly to help get the word out and hopefully prevent others from having to go through what we did. Others have posted Google reviews very similar to our situation. Please please look into other builders no matter how pretty their parade of homes are.
