Built by Design was born in 2014 in the Olathe cul-de-sac shared by owners Mike Schwartz & David Schmidt one summer night during yet another conversation about their mutual dislike of their cubicle jobs. Both had experience in remodeling that coupled with their solid project management skills led them to find rapid success as a design/build general contractor with many awards for the unique projects they've done. They survived the lean years of the housing market down-turn when many of their competitors did not by offering consistent quality, attention to detail & superb customer service. This business model has continued to serve them well - making it necessary to bring Mike's wife, Kristen, on board in 2015 to manage projects & to serve as Design Consultant, working with clients through the showroom selection process. Built by Design focuses on large-scale kitchen & bath remodels, high-end lower level finishes, whole house remodels & room additions. We also build custom homes when the right opportunity presents itself.
