Caruana Homes is one of a handful of builders who custom-design and build barrier-free, or “universal” homes to meet the needs of disabled or handicapped homebuyers. Caruana ranches are readily adaptive for barrier free modifications and do not appear to be much different from a standard home. Though specifics vary from case to case, a home built for someone in a wheelchair will have wider halls, sidewalks, and doors, and the cabinets and light switches will be lower. The shower will be bigger and easier to enter. The wide halls and bigger doors will also give the house a more open appearance which is in line with current building trends.
