Cook Homebuilders originally started in 1954 by Jim Cook under the name Cook Construction.
In the 50s, Jim operated the business out of Laurel, MS as an oilfield construction business, and eventually moved into building residential homes in the Laurel area. His son, Randy, took over the company in the mid-80s and expanded into the Atlanta area building Ruby Tuesday franchise locations and other commercial ventures.
He eventually moved back home to Mississippi where he worked on the MS Gulf Coast building homes and commercial projects before coming back to Laurel in the mid-90s to focus on residential construction. In the mid 2000s Cook Construction as an entity went dormant while we worked for Clark Engineering and Construction on several large food processing plants for Bar S foods as well as civil projects such as the courthouse in Leakesville, MS.
In 2014, Cook Construction ramped back up into residential construction and was rebranded Cook Homebuilders, and in 2015 Randy’s son Tyler joined the company. Since 2014 we have focused on general construction and have worked on many different types of projects ranging from residential remodels and new builds, to strip malls, coffee shops, and multi-million-dollar church facilities.
