CSHQA’s original founder, William S. Campbell, studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh. In 1889 he made his way across the United States to Boise (in the then Idaho Territory) where he founded an architectural practice.
That spirit of adventure, combined with service to community and a passion for design, has guided our firm for over 125 years. Today, we are a thriving practice of 100 professionals with offices in California, Colorado, and Idaho.
Throughout our history and particularly since the 1970s, a willingness to embrace transformation has put CSHQA at the forefront of smart, sustainable design, possibly the most critical demand currently upon our profession. The CSHQA archives include original ink on linen drawings and pencil on velum illustrations, yet today we foster a culture of working and archiving in digital, with minimal printing, as much as possible.
We embrace powerful technologies and applications, including BIM and Revit, to design with greater accuracy and flexibility. These tools, leveraged by outstanding leaders, designers and staff, enable us to integrate and test project elements throughout the design process, leading to highly constructable documents and a smooth construction process.
