Permits
- Building permit records show that Danica Construction Corp has worked on 19 permitted projects.
Danica was hired for a six-month FHA/HUD home renovation, supervised by a HUD inspector. After eight months they were fired for shoddy workmanship, not showing up for work, violating housing codes, and misrepresentation of their work.
They had represented to the HUD inspector that the heating and plumbing were nearly done, and were paid. Months later when we started the heating system there were multiple leaks, requiring opening walls and ceilings to repair them, plus they had not plumbed for heating zones as per contract. They claimed the exterior walls were insulated, they were not. They had represented that the Building Inspector required changes to electric and sewer, billing us for additional work, when there had been no inspection by the Buildings Department and no requirement. Housing code requires that the drywall around the heating system be of fire-resistant material, it was not and we had to replace it. The workmanship on the tile floor was unacceptable, they refused to repair it, causing us to remove and replace the floor. Knowing that the basement unit was a rental, their failing to complete the job near deadline cost us in loss of rental income.
After they were terminated, even though they were paid for all work they had done and, according to the contract were not owed for further payment, they placed a lien on the property equalling the amount they would have been paid had they finished the job correctly. My advice, find someone else. -- D, Sunset Park
