Emery Badio graduated from the University of Hartford with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with an Acoustics Concentration.
At the university he participated in several projects involving acoustical and mechanical engineering.
One of his projects was the acoustic testing and design of a multi-purpose space in Hartford’s Union Train Station. The renovation of the train station involved the transformation of the lobby into a space to host events. The lobby exhibited a long reverberation time which made speech unintelligible at distances greater than twenty feet. He tested the space and designed a system of acoustic treatments to increase speech intelligibility.
Another project involved the acoustic and vibratory analysis of an in-wall subwoofer enclosure. Artison, a high-end speaker manufacturer was concerned with vibration from their new in-wall subwoofer design. Using a modal analysis measurement system, he determined the resonant frequencies of the subwoofer enclosure and validated the design for vibration and acoustic fidelity according to THX standards.
