We had a written contract with Beau Starr, owner of Deck Pros. For a variety of reasons they were unable to start the work and promised to return our money. However, a month later and they still have not done so, and they stop responding to phone calls and email. We went to their business address and its a UPS store in Poulsbo. No accountability. We have no other recourse but to sue. Do not do business with Deck Pros!! They prey on seniors and military retirees.

Deck Pros disappeared with our deposit We paid Beau Starr / Deck Pros a deposit for half of our deck 4 months in advance. Communication was normal and cordial the entire time, however; they did not show up on the agreed start date. Three days later we contacted Beau to see if there was any update, figuring they were just behind. Over the next two weeks there was no response to email, text or voicemail. At that point, we filed a claim with Visa, and after an extended investigation, the money has been returned to us.
From what we can tell, Beau will either show up and do a great job, or disappear with your money. We found two prior customer reviews of this same practice, along with two open claims (as of March 2022) on Washington State Department of Labor (that add up to over 30K). You’ll have to ask yourself if it’s worth the risk hiring Deck Pros. If you do decide to move forward with them, we would suggest paying with a Visa or MasterCard so you have some kind recourse, other than court. We now have to start this process over again 6 months later. Who knows when we’ll actually be able to get the deck built.
