Dan Carlson’s passion for building began at an early age, going to work with his dad and helping on job sites. Throughout high school he worked during the summers framing homes.
In college, Dan’s interests and opportunities led him in another direction. He studied criminology at the University of Minnesota and, subsequently, patrolled the streets for six years as a St. Paul police officer. But he never let go of the construction industry, always doing framing and finish carpentry jobs on the side.
Eventually he decided to follow his dreams, trading in his badge for a hammer. In 2001, he started his own company, D.T. Carlson Co.
Dan’s business philosophy is simple: Deliver an exceptional overall experience to each client — from initial design to turnkey completion. He loves being a hands-on builder, working with clients to ensure that every phase of the building process helps them achieve their dreams.
Dan and his wife, Pernille, have three children, Christian, Lauren, and Madeline. As a family they love to travel and spend time at their cabin in northern Minnesota.
