Greg McKenzie Builders

Greg McKenzie's building legacy goes all the way back to 1916 when his grandfather, M.W. (Red) McKenzie, was born in Montgomery County. In 1934, Red married his childhood sweetheart, Tossie Williams. Together they raised four sons, Max, Glen, Theron, and Ronnie. Red's construction career began in 1952 soon after his return from a tour of duty in the Army. The business encompassed every aspect of construction from digging the footers to roofing. Meticulous attention to detail was his trademark. In 1962, second son, Glen, also an Army veteran, joined his father's company. He and his wife, Geraldine Cook, became the parents of their only child, Greg. In the 1980s, Glen began to expand the business primarily in residential homes but also branched into light commercial for the first time. By the end of the decade, multiple high end homes were completed yearly.

In 1984, Glen's son, Greg, enrolled at Georgia Southern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction. While attending GSU, Greg was awarded the Homebuilder's Scholarship, which is awarded to the Top Building Construction major student. Upon graduation in 1988, Greg joined McKenzie Construction Company. The company was still focused on residential jobs but was beginning to tackle larger commercial jobs such as apartment complexes. In 1995, Greg McKenzie founded GMB, Inc. GMB, Inc. has built hundreds of residential and commercial projects over the last 25 years all over Southeast Georgia. Some of the projects were large custom homes, medical office developments, churches, and worship centers.

In 2020, the fourth generation of McKenzies, Greg McKenzie, Jr., joined the firm. Greg Jr. attended the University of Georgia and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from the esteemed Terry College of Business.

Today Greg McKenzie Builders, Inc. is made up of three generations of licensed General Contractors, which is a point of pride for the company.
