As a kid growing up in Southern California, my mom and I spent many weekends exploring neighborhoods of all kinds throughout greater Los Angeles and beyond. Initially, city and home exploration represented the perfect proving grounds for competitive hide-and-go-seek with my sister. But as I grew a little older, I began to notice that the use of space (both macro and micro) seemed to have a profound impact on the human experience. It was this epiphany, I suppose, that evolved into my lifelong passion for architecture and design.
I studied architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (BArch '03). Perhaps the most impactful aspect to my course of study was the cultivation of the idea that problem solving is accomplished through observation, introspection and innovation. The adoption of this mindset was critical to my growth as a student of design and continues to influence all aspects of my life today.
During my years at Cal Poly, I worked for a medium-sized architecture firm that specialized in restaurants and hospitality. I designed commercial kitchens and interior architecture for many well known restaurants, including PF Changs, Yardhouse and The Daily Grill.
I have worked with Santa Monica-based Killefer Flammang Architects since 2004. My first project at KFA involved the adaptive reuse of the 80 year-old, 12-story Title Guarantee building in downtown Los Angeles. Once an old, worn-out office space, Title Guarantee is now home to spectacular residential lofts. The downton area in general has undergone quite a transformation and I am proud to have played some small role in this. The Title Guarantee project also began my passion for breathing new life into old buildings!
I purchased my own "old building" in 2007; a 1970s era home in San Luis Obispo. Over the next two years, the house was completely remodeled and the project earned an Award of Commendation from the Obispo Beautiful Association.
I enjoy working collaboratively with clients and architects alike and look forward to working with you!
