We used this company for about five years, but over time their service deteriorated to a point we decided to terminate them. Because of inconsistent service combined with a management that lies about problems and tries to charge extremely high prices to make unnecessary repairs we decided to move to a new service company.
Here are several examples of things they did. Last year our pool began to develop a black cloudy appearance near the bottom. Howard Pool claimed it was because our filter needed to be changed because it was shot. They wanted to charge us twice the price we could buy it almost anywhere else. We inspected the filter and found it had not been cleaned for a very long time. We also took water samples for independent testing. The tests showed the phosphate levels in our pool were off the chart and this was the source of our problem. We shocked the pool to get rid of the phosphates and cleaned the filter and the black appearance disappeared in 48 hours and our pool was crystal clear again. When we questioned our Howard Pool tech he said Howard Pool did not test for phosphates. Howard Pool then threatened to stop cleaning our filter unless we changed the cartridge. We began cleaning it ourselves and 12 months after they said it was shoot it was still functioning fine. We hired a new pool service company and they cleaned the the filter and said that it was showing some minor wear it, but was still functioning fine and it not need to be replaced.
In another case Howard Pool removed our chemical feed pump without our permission and tried to charge us for repairing it even though this pump had not ever been used during the 5 years they had been servicing our pool. It took three phone calls to get the pump returned.
The "Straw that Broke the Camel's Back" occurred when they sent us a message stating they would not service our pool any longer unless we changed the filter. Then with no noticed they stopped our service. Fortunately we had already been interviewing replacement service companies and had no period of lost service because of this unprofessional action.
Hire them if you want, but don't be surprised if they lie to you and try to rip you off. -

Howards is ok until they damage your equipment. See attachment (if they allow an attachment). on 2/23 pool tech leaves message, "I shut equipment off because the screw for the filter collar stripped out". Now who do you supposed did the stripping? Well, they sent me a bill for a new knob she placed on the stripped out screw!! Really? Of course the knob did NOTHING because the filter still leaks. Now it is the 26th and my pool sits idle and looking bad even though I called and emailed them -- without reply. It appears that they take no responsibility for their errors and try to make the customer pay for them while nothing gets done to fix the problem! If Hoard comes down your street, send them packing unless you wish to spend a lot of time fixing your won pool and looking for a decent company to maintain it!

We hired Howards Pool Services, they charged $400 for 4 visit to clear the green out of the pool prior to starting regular weekly cleaning service. They came to 3 times not 4, then hurricane Ian came thru. While I understand things were down for a short time after the hurricane, no one ever showed back up to clean the pool, I called to see when they would resume cleaning and was advised "since the hurricane we have decided not to take on any new clients". First I am not a new client, you have already started the job I hired you for and in addition at the very least someone could have done was to make a phone call and explain that you were not going to be coming back out so I could have hired a different company. My pool is now back to the same state it was prior to paying $400. I would avoid this company, DO NOT hire them. They lack any type of professionalism, will essentially steal your money, never show back up and never make a phone call to let you know.
