We started talking to Larry Ibanez, who contacted us in Mid-January 2022, after we signed up with BuildZoom for a condo bathroom remodel. Took him a couple of weeks to organize his plumber and electrician to come over, and then several more to get us an estimate, which happened in mid-February. The electrician he wanted to work with came in more than double than a Master Electrician who came with a much more thorough quote. After we agreed to Ibanez' $ amount and the scope of work for him and his plumber, it took him two more drafts just to send us a breakdown of the job, and he never sent any kind of schedule after multiple requests (not a pinpoint schedule, but an estimate of how long each part of the job would take). We liked Larry. He has a charming personality, and he seemed to know his stuff. He never provided any references, but we trusted him (there are a few decent reviews, albeit not many considering how long he says he's been working), and we were willing to work with him with a flexible reasonable time frame. Instead, after coming to our home last Wednesday, April 13, nearly 3 months after we first started speaking to him, to finally finish paperwork, what he presented miscalculated his own quote. He said he would revise it that same night and resend by email, and we agreed to give him a deposit the next day. We never got the revised paperwork from him or the promised schedule. Instead, on Thursday, April 14, we were rewarded with an email from him stating he had taken another job (that he had never mentioned), and couldn't do the work with no further explanation, and he refused to answer our emails or calls to explain why the sudden change. It was all a very big time waste. We bought all of our materials, and are ready to go, and this guy played games with us. He also started using a different mobile number than the one he originally contacted us on, and told us he didn't want to pay BuildZoom its referral fee. On the BuildZoom #, Larry wrote that he was too busy a week before he took that meeting to finalize things with us, but on his own mobile and email he said he was ready to start the job, and very happy to do so. Not someone I would recommend doing business with to anyone. Just not a good experience. Back to Square One.
