JF Carpentry LLC

I graduated from SCC-Milford with a degree in Building Construction in 2001, and I immediately set out into the wide world of Carpentry. I began my real learning with a Lincoln based remodel company and through them I began to see how vast a world it was and how much I had yet to learn. Bathroom remodels and basement finishes. Home additions and kitchen updates. Tearing off old siding, windows and shingles and replacing them with new. There was so much to learn that college instructors and books didn't tell me about! After a year of remodels, I left to see and understand the art of framing.

A local Lincoln based framer hired me on and he and his crew continued my education. I started framing simple duplexes and triplexes, and before I knew it, was framing custom homes in south Lincoln. He and his crew were amazing in all that they helped me to learn. Once I began to feel comfortable in how a home goes together, I started to install decks, siding, and hardwood floors in these new homes.

In late 2002, the military asked me to become a builder for them, a Civil Engineer, and I left for Mississippi to learn the military way of building. While I was down south I felt led to move away from home, to the big sky of Montana. And so I moved there after my training in 2003. Literally, I moved to Big Sky, Montana! Without knowing anybody, having a job or even knowing where I was going to live, I drove for two days and settled in the gorgeous, booming little town just north of Yellowstone National Park. Homes of up to 10,000sf were being built in the mountains, and I was able to help put some of them up. Framing these multi-million dollar homes was again, an education. From custom trim work, custom timber work, custom decking, everything seemed to be custom. Wrapping steel beams in timber to make the whole piece look like a single piece of wood takes work, but building an entire home to look as if it naturally belonged in the mountains was definitely an adventure! Looking back on my time spent in Big Sky were the years that I really came into my own as a carpenter. Leading small crews on these homes, making sure that things were done to near-absolute-perfection was something I really took pride in doing and this is when the dream of running my own business began. I would like to believe that I would have continued living and working in that little piece of heaven, but I was called to my first deployment in late 2005. Another one followed in 2007, and my most recent one ended in April 2011.

My wife pushed me into following my dream once I returned home, and thus, JF Carpentry was established in May of 2011. I have learned from and worked with some of the best builders in Nebraska and Montana. These people are the ones that made me into the Carpenter that I am today and for that I am grateful, and hope to never let them down for all the hours they worked with me, making sure that each stud was cut properly, each piece of trim had a tight joint, each door opened smoothly, each anything was done precisely. No cutting of corners. Establishing a good customer relationship that will last for many, many years.

I'm not a General Contractor, nor do I run a crew. Any work that JF Carpentry does, will be done by me, and any trusted helpers I work with. I want to make sure that you are happy with whatever work I do for you, and by keeping as many "middle men" out of your home as I can. From repairs to remodels, decks to doors, flooring to finish work and most everything in between, what do you need done?!
