I am the customer of one of those permits listed. Our contract with John MacKenzie was to build a 6x16' deck, not 9x16 as stated. He built the 9x16, using very shoddy building practices, as confirmed by the Harwich Building Inspector. These included, improper footings, no flashing where attached to the house, and improper anchors at that attachment. In addition, instead of having a step down from our front door, as we requested, the deck was installed flush with the opening, perfect for inviting rot. When confronted, he agreed to remove the deck and refund our deposit, but ultimately backed out of doing both. We removed it ourselves and have yet to receive a refund.
