I had a very simple basement project. Andy was very cheap and now I know why.
The GOOD: I will say that, for the most part, King of Kings crews showed up on time. A few hiccups here and there, but they were usually there when they said they would be there. All of the guys and subs that work for him are genuine and respectful.
The BAD: at every turn, when King of Kings did something poorly, Andy had some lame excuse. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Never accountable for anything! He is critical of any previous work done or any materials he didn't purchase for the job, always citing these as the reasons why the job was done poorly.
If a barn door happens to be part of the project, or any door for that matter, Andy doesn't understand those. Find someone else.
Andy thinks that ceilings are painted the same color as walls. Blue ceilings?
Andy doesn't understand where flooring-to-carpet transitions belong under doors.
I could go on and on, but these are some examples that a competent contractor shouldn't be struggling with.Then, when it comes time for him to repair a VERY poorly installed floor, he does let me know that he will make it right, BUT he refuses to explain to me how he intends to make it right. Says he does not owe me that. How can I trust King of Kings to repair it correctly if he refuses to explain the fix? Truth is, with the original install done so poorly, I don't think he knows.
He is also not a man of his word, which I find very disappointing considering that he describes his contracting business as a ministry. After telling me in person and in a voicemail that he would trim the bottoms of doors and clean windows full of drywall mud splatter, he now refuses.
Trust me, do NOT hire this guy. If you enjoy being told that YOU are the reason for his poor work, then you will love KOK (LOL!). But for me, KOK was a decision I regret making. Don't fall for the cheap quote.

I don't know what happened to Daryl, but I swear by these guys. I got 3 bids to replace a part of my fence. I got his number out of a Christian Business Directory . Frankly, with the advertising, I thought he would be way more expensive. He wasn't. Also, he follows code. Code says fence posts have to be 3 feet deep. One guy I got a quote from said he does 2 feet, the 3rd one even less than that. Andy and his crew did the 3 feet. He's also been doing this for 47 years. I don't anticipate needing any more work done, but if I do, I know who I will call first.
