Refused to fix issues clearly included in their home warranty. Will not get back to us despite months of contacting them.

I sold my Austin home, and the new owners hired MacConnell Renovations as the general contractor and purchased glass from AV. So I did not order the glass, I did not allow access to the property to install the glass, and I certainly did not owe the balance on the account.
Carol, who was listed on the work order as the AV sales employee, should have gotten the correct name and billing address for the work.
The first contact I have from both of these parties is a Notice of Balance and Demand letter for payment, statement of my personal liabity for the "accurate" work order enclosed , and threat of lien against the property.
When I reached Mr Macconnell, he said he was CC'd on the letter in error. He admitted to being the general contractor. So in my book, he was responsible for overseeing the project, including the billing. He blamed Travis County for the inflammatory letter. Mr Macconnell needs to grow up and take responsibility for his projects.
Jill, the AV person who finally returned my call, said she had the legal right to send the incorrect letter to me. And she would try to figure out how to write a letter for my personal file stating that I was not responsible for the account balance, I think Jill should have learned letter writing skills in elementary school. Again, Travis County was blamed.
For payment, AV should have called the person who placed the order.
Then they should have attempted to call the person who allowed access to the property for payment. And as a last resort, they should have called me, to which I would have suggested they contact Keller Williams for any Lot owner information.A Demand letter via certified mail should NOT have been sent to me as first contact for payment.

I am an architect and since 2015, I have worked with Matthew Macconnell on numerous projects. He has never paid me for work, has never hired me, and he has no idea that I am even writing this review.
I have found Matt to be a clear communicator and a straight shooter at every turn of more than 10 projects. I would HIGHLY recommend him to any of my clients or friends looking for a good builder with integrity who stands by his word and his work.
I am writing this review because I just recommended Macconnell Renovations to a friend and they called me, asking me about these 1 star reviews. No idea who these people are, but one of them didn't even work with him and seems to have a lot of complaints after selling his home and the new owner hiring Matt and "Jill the AV person" who I have never heard of and never worked with in my many interactions with Matt's company. Imagine if your reputation can be marred and irreparably damaged by people who do not even work with you!
I highly recommend Matthew Macconnell and Macconnell Renovations, Inc because in 10 years and many projects I have seen a consistency in keeping his word and in his commitment to getting it right that I have not found in every builder. He is rare and if he will agree to meet with you and bid on your project, you are damned lucky.
