re : architecture is a design firm focused on creating exceptional approaches to both urban design and architecture. We have experience at a variety of scales: from homes to communities to cities. This breadth provides a unique insight into any design problem. REA was founded by Richard H. Epstein, AIA, LEED AP an urban designer, architect, and educator.

The office is based on the belief that bringing many different approaches and philosophies together is needed to address the complex problems of our time. Deep sustainability is borne from a hybrid approach: not an either/or but a plus/and. The city and the building, the designer and the client, the local and the global, technology and inspiration, pragmatic and visionary, details and the big picture - this inclusive perspective is the basis to how we approach any design problem. REA focuses on urban design and planning, housing of all types, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. We also provide sustainability and strategic consulting. We bring together experts from many areas as needed for each project to provide an inter-disciplinary approach tailored to the specific problem. Our staff includes Michael Highland and Dave Swoboda as well as associations with Brian Dale of Sort Studio, bldg.collective and Marcel de Lange of 641West. Our team brings a creative, problem-solving approach using the latest computer tools and parametric design to address each design project in a new way.
