There have been many, many problems with this builder! I will just fast forward to the latest problems. One year warranty work, what a joke the only thing they repair are nail pops. We have broken concrete at the end of the driveway, front patio is cracked and concrete is breaking off, the garage floor is cracked and good size chunks have broken off. They will not warranty any of this work. They say they do not warrantee concrete because it’s Nebraska and the weather is extreme. They also do not get back to you, you have to contact them to see what’s Going to be repaired or not. This should not be happening on a brand new home. The only thing this builder cares about is putting up homes fast to make a buck. They don’t care about the quality or the crap that people have to deal with fixing up their mess. STAY AWAY FROM ALL BHI HOMES.... our home in particular is Richland Homes.

Closed on my house April 2nd, two weeks later had a puddle of water in the unfinished storage area in the basement and water and mold in the wall at the bottom of the staircase. Fast forward to August 7th, the bathroom in the basement started molding behind the toilet. Emailed and was told it’s humidity and that it’s not their fault. Took another month to get someone out here and they were planning on just painting over the baseboard where the mold was. Today the owner (Jerry Torczan) came out looking into it, I asked to get the carpet and baseboard pulled off to check for more mold in the Rec room and Jerry said no and gets in my face telling me I should’ve had the dehumidifier running long before I did. Then pulls out the get a lawyer line looks at something else and leaves. Stay away from this builder and any development from BHI

Run as fast as you can from this company. Terrible build quality, absolutely zero customer service after the sale. The models may look nice and be fairly priced, but the actual homes they build are absolute crap. They use the cheapest materials and contractors as possible and cut every corner they can.
Response from Richland Homes LLC April 22, 2019Joe, I am sorry you feel this way. Everyone at Richland Homes strives to do a good job and yet we, as every company, have room for improvement. With respect to our customer service, we offer a 1 year warranty after the close of the home. The warranty and construction standards are given to every customer prior to contract so they can have a clear understanding of the coverage and process. We use quality trades, most of which are used by many other builders in Omaha. All of the materials we use meet or exceed code requirements and all construction is inspected by the jurisdiction to ensure code compliance, our superintendent to make sure it meets Richland Homes guidelines and buy the customer.

Built three homes for family members. Never an issue that went unresolved. I do know that squeaky wheels may get the grease ... but polite and respectful “wheels” get taken care of. Builds over 300 homes a year for maybe 40 years?.. total that against a handful of complaints . .
