Slade and Sons builds beautiful new construction homes, however, I have learned a valuable lesson about the importance of home inspections. I put in an offer on a new construction in Sutherland in April 2022 built by this company. During the home inspection, there was a significant amount of mold found on the beams and insulation in the crawl space. This should not have been the case for a new home. Due to my concerns with future upkeep of this serious issue, I decided to remove my offer. The builder refused to return my earnest money deposit of $1,000 even though I was well within the time frame of changing my mind and receiving a refund. There was also a lack of follow up on the mold issue after I requested to pull out from the offer. The house is now back on the market and has a pending offer. This was the worst thing to experience as a first time home buyer. I will only put in an offer on my next house after the home inspection has been completed and will be more prepared to advocate and ask questions. I would not recommend this contractor.
