Stehling Klein Thomas Architects
Stehling ∙ Klein ∙ Thomas ∙ Architects was founded in 1998 by Randy Stehling, John Klein, and Steve Thomas. Brandon Weinheimer joined the firm in 2008. Being fourth and fifth generation decedents of the first settlers who came to the Texas Hill Country and eventually founded Fredericksburg, we are each deeply rooted in the heritage which is distinctly unique to this area. We each grew up learning the art of building and design from our fathers, who with patience taught us the values of honesty, hard work and the invaluable importance of a good reputation. As Architects we strive to employ those early learned lessons approaching every task with the steadfast conviction of doing things right, and treating every project as we would our own.
With more than 100 years of combined architectural practice we have been privileged to work on wide variety of public and private projects including residences, schools, churches, banks, restaurants, hotels, medical clinics, office buildings, retail buildings, and warehouses. We believe this diversified range of experience strengthens our ability to meet the challenges of complex projects and brings added value to our clients.
Our extensive experience in Historic preservation work provides us the skills needed to handle any size restoration project or when needed integrate new additions which are compatible in design with their original counterparts. This experience comes from working on hundreds of restorations thru-out Texas ranging from the earliest 19th century log structures to the rehab and adaptive reuse of the larger late 19th and 20th century commercial buildings including several buildings on Congress Avenue in Austin such as the W.B. Smith Building and both of the Walter Tips Buildings. Other Texas projects have included the Sam Bell Maxey house in Paris, the House of the Seasons in Jefferson, and the Toltec Building in El Paso. More recent projects include the Altdorf Biergarten, the Ranch Club and Pavilion at Boot Ranch, and the Herb Farm in Fredericksburg.
