We hired Bates Construction to replace our roof, improve our parking space, increase our patio and foundation support, plus poor a wrap around concrete footing with flat lower slab to help with water run off. We were very happy with the work Steve and his team did. They were on time, on target to the quote and worked very neatly which is rare with contractors these days. I would highly recommend Bates construction to anyone looking for an honest business while cares about the experience and finished product that he delivers to his customers.

**** HE CAME ON A HOLIDAY***
Simon is amazing in this crazy heat he came quickly was very informative he fixed the problem and was out in less than 15 minutes. He is so kind and polite. With all the COVID precautions he bumped elbows wore his face mask and slipped booties on his feet. He already had the part in his backpack. He walked me set by step showed me the numbers on the part showed me what the reading were suppose to be be and everything. I am very hands on and want to watch every move being made and he had not problem with that he was the one offering to show me the information. I highly recommend him he came quickly and was very efficient. This Single mom with 2 little kids and dogs with health issues is very happy especially when it was 113° yesterday and 118° the day before. I will recommend him to everyone I know. -
By Nick S.June 17, 2019Build a new custom home$1,300,000
Hired Crestline California based Steve Bates Construction Services to Build a 4,000 sq ft custom Spec Home in Crestline. Project started in 2016. Still not built. Bates abandoned the project. Leaving 10 unfinished open contracts which he has received payments for. Also took payments for materials he never provided. If you are looking for a chaotic disorganized 'builder' to take 4 times the money and time he quoted, leaving a filthy and disorganized job site behind him, as well as construction defect specific work, then Steve Bates is your guy. On the other hand, if you want your project done on time and on budget, you should definitely call someone else.

By Curt S.June 6, 2019Window Installation$13,000
EC Builders was a subcontractor to Lowe's Installations. They were to install 15 windows in my home in Arnold. The windows were ordered in December of 2018 and here we are in June of 2019 and they remain unfinished. A simple word of advice. Never would I recommend this company for anything. Sorry about the one star I had no choice in the matter

By IrinaJune 18, 2018Build crib, dresser and hang curtains$90Read more
My experience with PJ was extremely disappointing.
First, he mixed up the day of our appointment and showed up at my house on the wrong day. We talked it over and I proved to him that he was actually supposed to show up the next day according to our text messages.
When he did show up the next day, which was the right day, he showed up on time which was very professional. We agreed to a rate of $45 per hour and the task was to build 2 pieces of baby furniture and hang curtains. PJ began working right away. Close to 2 hours later, he was almost finished with building a baby dresser. I got very nervous at that point and told him that at a rate of $45/hr and taking 2 hours to complete just 1 task would be extremely costly and much more money than I had anticipated - maybe we could agree on a more reasonable rate to complete the tasks. His response was to say that there were "500 screws" for the dresser and he can't go any faster and that's the rate, maybe I should have had his helper come along which would be $75/hr.
When he finally finished the dresser 2.5 hours later, he opened the crib box and said that he doesn't have time for this job today. He'll have to come back next week. I told him that I clearly outlined everything that needed to be completed that day and I couldn't understand why he scheduled another appointment and would leave before this job was completed. He responded by saying that he thought the crib was a "fold out like back in the day." Hmmm....I asked when was the last time he built a crib because cribs aren't "fold out these days." The dumb response was that he builds cribs all the time which clearly contradicted his initial statement....anyway, it was a frustrating conversation to say the least.
I could go on, but here's the point: PJ is extremely expensive because it takes time to build things and a rate of $45/hr seems cheap initially until it takes him 2.5 hours to build 1 thing which becomes stupid expensive. Also, he left the empty dresser box scattered in my garage with Styrofoam all over the place. Basically, he just completed 1 thing, got his money and up and left leaving behind a mess. I was so shocked and disappointed and do not recommend working with PJ.

We were impressed with the care that Elmer of EC builders provided, e.g. In appraising the possible impact of our tree removal on our neighbor. He was easy to deal with and we would recommend him.

Nu-Vision is simply a lead generating telemarketer. They farm everything out to unlicensed local contractors.
I receive a telemarketing call from "Home Remodeling Group" which displayed a bogus number, (925) 136-8857. They sent out a person representing Nu-vision Builders. Nu-Vision Builders CA license number is 976510, which was registered in Tarzana, CA in 2012. The person who showed presented a business card for Nu-Vision Builders with the license and a local address. But the phone number is (855) 889-9963. No one answers this phone. The message says if you don't know your party's extension press zero twice. After pressing zero twice the message repeats. I won't do business with a company like that.

Don't be fooled, this company is owned by Hector Andres Romero past CEO/Pres. of HAR Construction who defaulted on Sweetwater School District projects and the San Diego County Lincoln Library project. Check the license number it was issued this year not 36 years ago...Beware...
