SUMAC Construction was founded in 1977 by Keith and Stuart Giebelman. Based in San Diego, the brothers started out as spec home developers and builders. In time, their interests moved to the luxury home market, which was heating up as more people migrated to San Diego’s beauty and climate. In particular La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar were growing at a rapid pace. Building many spectacular homes in these areas grew SUMAC’s reputation as an expert in the custom home market.
Keith’s son, Dan, grew up in the family business and showed talent in operations, estimating and project management. Growing under his father and uncle’s tutelage, the company prospered and Dan was named CEO in 2019.
SUMAC’s family ideals of honesty, integrity, their obsession for quality control and work site safety continue to guide the entire SUMAC organization on a daily basis.
