Back in seventh grade, middle school friends Mark Jordan and Peter Kieffer had their priorities straight – sports, food and fun – and not always in that order. Creating a highly successful design/build partnership was the furthest thing from their minds as they raced bikes through all the South Tampa neighborhoods. Their parallel worlds progressed through Plant High School and on to North Carolina State for Mark, and Tulane and Florida State for Peter.
Graduating as a civil engineer, Mark worked for many years with Mizner Marine as a project engineer, then moved to sales for a commercial construction accessories firm. That change also brought a general contractor’s license.
After a few seasons of athletic scholarship football at Tulane, Peter transferred to Florida State to earn his business degree. In the following years Peter crisscrossed the country managing a variety of sales and operations divisions for major telecommunications companies.
