    Terrible Crook of a Contractor

    Ted Braun from Jute Enterprises recently completed an addition to my house in Inman Park. 95% of our project went great, and despite having to re-do a lot of finishing work on the interior of the house, we were fairly happy with the work done by Ted Braun and his subcontractors.

    However, about a month after the renovation was completed, the carbon monoxide detector in my son's room went off in the middle of the night. We later determined that Ted had installed a PVC vent pipe on our tankless gas water heater. The PVC pipe had melted inside and outside the house, and was slowly burning every time we used the hot water heater.

    We called a Bosch tankless hot water heater out to look at the unit and were told that a PVC pipe never should have been installed on this unit-only a stainless steel one-and that it was days (!) away from catching on fire as a result. Another plumber called to give us a quote for replacing the vent told us exactly the same thing.

    We reached out to Ted, told him about the heater, and asked him to pay for the repair, which was a little over $500, as well as providing copies of the plumber's invoice. We also asked him to pay $750 for a subcontractor who was never paid for work done on the house that we ended up paying ourselves.

    Sadly, Ted Braun has chosen to ignore us. He acknowledged via email that the vent might have been wrong but simply stopped responding when contacted about paying for the repair. I frankly don't understand why, given that a request for repayment for a few hundred dollars pales in comparison to a phone call that our house had burned down or that someone had been injured as a result.

    I would not recommend this business to anyone in the Atlanta metro area. Please beware.

    The information provided is incorrect and misleading. All work was preformed by code and inspected (a verifiable fact which is omitted). Secondly Allen made contact and demaned reimbursement well after the incident accured. Not being aware of nor given the opportunity to remedy of the situation, at no cost to Allen was never an option. Allen also was fully reimbursed for the repair. All documentation verifying this siuation are available for view. Allen also fails to mention, he moved back into the property 30 days early...(also verifiable).
