Having practiced architecture in the Middleburg area for over 25 years, Bill Turnure has developed his architectural abilities based on extensive training and a thorough understanding of traditional architecture design and detailing. Formed in 1994, Turnure Architecture specializes in custom designed residences, additions and historical renovations. The firm has completed a wide scope of projects ranging from simple renovations to historically based estate-type homes. The firm's diversity is shown by completing fitness centers, assisted living centers, local bank and restaurant renovations as well as historic district commercial renovations and additions.
As the chairman of the Middleburg Historic District Review Committee, chairman of the Warrenton Board of Appeals, past president of the Middleburg Business and Professional Association and a member of various local organizations and committees, Bill still stays active in service organizations that can impact how the surrounding area will take shape in the near future. It is vitally important to be cognizant of issues that affect any professional on a local level as well as nationally.
Turnure Architecture is encouraged by future possibilities in the surrounding region's architecture. In today's economic climate, there is a general hesitation to approach projects as commonly done the past years. However, these conditions afford the opportunity to investigate more compact and efficient designs. We have always felt compelled to change the common mind-set that suggests mass square footage is a reflection of quality in building. More efficient planning is a way of saving money that can be used wisely on a client's more personal touches.
We feel strongly that developing a design should be as enjoyable for the client as it is for the architect and that the design process should be a rewarding endeavor for both as well. There is a noticeable difference between stepping into a space that has had no owner design input and a space that was specifically developed and tailored for the client. These rewards can be found in the form of specifically suiting a client's desires, affording opportunities for flexibility, cost savings and improving the quality of living at home as well as the workplace.
