I had a roofing and insulation project that needed an electrician to remove old recessed can lights and install Insulation Contact Airtight recessed cans based on our insulation team’s request. Someone recommended Z and I went online to find that he wrote “My focus is quality. I never cut corners….I will take the time to make sure you’re 100% happy.” I am writing this review because I found that Z’s work didn’t match this wording. I’m including a summary of my complaints:
• I forwarded what the insulation team wanted done. Z didn’t seem to understand the difference between Insulation Contact (IC) and Insulation Contact Airtight (ICAT), which reduce heat loss and the possibility of mold.
• He rarely, if ever, showed up on time.
• He didn’t come prepared with supplies and spent a whole morning getting the necessary supplies, which still ended up being incorrect—he bough IC cans and not ICAT cans.
• The new cans weren’t installed flush to the ceiling and looked like I did the work myself.
• He didn’t wear gloves and left finger prints all over the ceiling.
• He didn’t clean up after completing the work. There was dust and insulation in my living room and bathrooms. He knocked over the shower curtains in the bathroom and left them.
• While removing the old recessed cans he destroyed the drywall ceiling and didn’t fix it, leaving gaps.
He asked for payment while I was working from home and I should have checked the work more before he left and negotiated the price down because of the quality of work but I wasn’t in that headspace. So I paid him and he left. A few minutes later, I turned off the lights and noticed the overall quality of work, I called him and he came back to the house. We talked about the quality and he kept talking about how hard the work was. I don’t doubt that the job was difficult but the finished result isn’t what I was expecting. I told him that I would to have to hire someone else to fix his work and clean and paint the ceiling. He gave me someone’s number but I found a different person to do it. He said he would refund me 25% of the cost to cover the repairs. After numerous text messages and calls, I have yet to see the refund.
I am not writing out of spite but I want to save others the headache and disappointment I experienced. His focus wasn’t quality, he cut corners, and I am not 100% happy. Oh, yeah—he left all the old material in my garage without saying a word about it.
