Answers to all of your questions about BuildZoom…

Can I remove my profile?

If the BuildZoom profile is based off third-party sources including public data from a regulatory entity (such as a state license board) or verified feedback from a homeowner, we are not able to remove the profile. There are several cases in which we will remove a profile. Most notably, if you are the proprietor or an officer of a company that has gone out of business, you may submit a removal request through our support line, along with a copy of your articles of dissolution. We encourage contractors to claim their profiles, enhance the publicly available information with additional details and photos from their past projects, and to address their reviewers’ concerns by leaving comments on the reviews.

Updating your profile

Once you have claimed your profile, you can locate the different tabs on the left-side of your profile dashboard. We recommend updating your 'Update Profile' tab with all your licensing information and the 'About my business' section with the services you offer. You can also add photos, your company's website URL, and any social media profiles you may have. Please make sure all of your contact information is up-to-date and accurate.

Where did you get the information on my profile?

BuildZoom doesn’t independently evaluate contractors or create original editorial content on contractors. The information on your profile comes directly from third parties, including regulatory organizations such as contractor license boards and local building departments. This data is typically made available to both BuildZoom and the general public by these sources.

Who created the profile for my business?

BuildZoom automatically generates a profile for a business who has held a license according to the relevant license board. In some areas, where licensing is not required, BuildZoom will use other forms of publicly available data, such as building permit records, to determine that a business is operating in compliance with local regulations.

Why do I have an alert on my profile?

BuildZoom will create an alert message on a business profile in the presence of certain red flags. These may include alerts regarding a low rating from the Better Business Bureau, failed background checks, expired or suspended licenses, or a record of poor interactions with homeowners and the BuildZoom team.
