I’m reaching out because I’m looking to hire an architect to help design my new home in Lahaina’s Shark Pit neighborhood. I lost everything in the fires, and this will be my first time building—so I’m really looking forward to working with someone as I take these next steps. I’m envisioning a two-story home around 2,000–3,000 sq ft, possibly with one or two guest houses/ADUs on the property (zoned R-2). Since the lot is located in the Lahaina Historic District, I understand that part of the design will need to align with the area’s building codes and architectural requirements, which, in all honesty, I’m not yet super familiar with.
