The main purpose of this project is to revitalize the look of a fireplace in the living room. Ideally we would like to remove the rock surround entirely, as well as the big step in front of the fireplace(the hearth?). We would like to replace the rock with white brick or subway tile from the floor to the ceiling. As part of this project we will replace the existing flooring in the entire living room and the small hallway leading to the bedrooms, and also repaint the living room walls.
