On a 1 year remodel of a house in Marin, there were good subs and bad ones. Sam's company at Galos Drywall was definitely in the top tier of the bad ones.
My family has worked with Sam across dozens of rentals in the north bay. Most have been smaller houses that needed drywall and painting work.
We decided to contact Sam in regards to our custom home in Marin. We were very specific about the fact that we needed level 5 smoothness to be done. And that we were on a timeline.
Since day 1, I had to argue with Sam and his crew. They were refusing to do small mud work to smoothen the wall. Even issues that both the carpenter and painter agreed could be fixed with mud, Sam refused to touch.
After agreeing to pay overages, they *attempted* to do the fixes. The attempts were poor quality. And I'm left having to find another drywaller to fix the multiple mistakes.
After Sam's crew was gone, I asked them to come back and patch a few areas. They'd come by, do a very poor job, and forget to sand down the areas that were dry prior to leaving. The painters had to sand over their mud in areas because they simply would leave them behind. Pictures of their *fixes* are attached. There were entire areas that they missed to mud (also pictures attached). They ended up charging me thousands more for the 3 days of patch jobs even though they were responsible for some of them.
Simply put, don't call Sam for a good job. Don't call him for a quick job. If our job was an indication, he does them slowly with lack of attention to detail.
