Summary:
1 Owner (Tony) does an estimate for a 2 car gravel driveway and tells me "It will be flat at the top so that your car doors won't swing open from gravity and hit the other car."
2 Owner personally does the work creating a driveway with about a 3 ft height difference from the left side and the right side, making it very difficult for cars to park on.
3 Ask if Owner can fix it or refund the money since it was not what he told me he was going to do nor what we agreed on.
4 Owner requests another contract and more money and tells me he will not refund the money. No offer to fix it at no additional cost or a refund.
Additional things to know: Communication was slow and poor. I was told job would start 2 weeks after quote, didn't start until a month after and didn't tell me it would take longer until I reached out again.
There are parts of the job that appear to not have any digging like we agreed on and looks like gravel was just placed over top of the grass. The job also didn't look pretty. I compacted the gravel myself by renting a gravel compactor to make it look better since it was just loose gravel that neighbors called a rock garden. What's frustrating is you expect someone to deliver on an agreement and not act shady. The written agreement should have explicitly said flat or graded level like the owner told me in person he was going to do. That's partly my fault for being naive and trusting someones word. I'd still expect someone to come fix their work or at least communicate options during the job as to why it wasn't going to be what we agreed on, instead of just going ahead and going off plan. Definitely would not recommend.
