We contracted with Buddy Register last November for Precision Home Improvements to replace some decking hit by a falling tree on our house, and to re-shingle the whole roof of our 2100 sq. ft Cape Code.
His workers took approximately 4 days to do the job, and beginning soon afterwards we began noticing problems (shingles hanging crooked or bent, etc.). Then, over the following weeks and months we have found a total of 7 leaks -- including a place where a whirly-gig vent was removed but no wood was replaced (just tar paper laid down large hole and shingled over). The largest and longest lasting leaks came from around our three dormer windows, where flashing was not replaced, and the rain flowed down the entire front of our house, beneath the vinyl and also into the interior walls.
It has taken quite some time for all the poor workmanship to be found, but eventually he sent workers to fix the leaks in a total four visits, and it seems that all the leaks are finally fixed, but each time it took about 10 days before anyone came, and in the meantime, no tarps were put down, or any other efforts made to lessen the effects of the leaks, despite our frequent (daily) communication through e-mail and by phone. Now we have mold everywhere, and this is especially problematic because we have two daughter with compromised immune systems, which we mentioned to Mr. Register, hoping that this would increase his willingness to make right the damage he has done to our house. Buddy's communication to use, (at the end of July) was as follows (this is a copy and paste from his e-mail to us).
"debbie.....I am very sorry about your daughters illnesses, had I know of the seriousness I may have reconsidered doing the job in the first place,I have done everything in my power to correct any problem that you feel that you may have had due to our workmanship, having said that I must tell you that I will not be paying for any reconstruction of your home because of your daughters illnesses,I wish that my job was helping people get well by redesigning their homes but it's not,we live in a terribly moist area of the country...out west would be much better place for anyone with respiratory problems,I do hope your daughters make a full recovery and that you can get your home to the point where you and your family can continue to live there as long as you want. Buddy"
He has failed to return repeated requests to come inspect the damage himself, despite his secretary stating that he would come.

Never again! Precision Home Improvements, Inc, Jerrell Douglas "Buddy" Register no longer has a valid Home Builders license for SC as of June 30, 2014 and can no longer legally perform home repairs or construction. He walked off my unfinished job March 07, 2012 after paying him over 72K after incurring 24 failed issues on a final county inspection. In addition, he allowed his Insurance Bond to lapse during my construction and several of his Subs tried to file liens against me after he failed to pay them. In May 2013 I won a default judgment against him in Richland County for lack of workmanship and contract abandonment. He has yet to pay this Judgment. I have filed a formal complaint against him with SC LLR
