    Fix an oven!

    Submitted a work order on 9/19/23 and it's now 10/02/2023 STILL NO WORD ON THE REQUEST. They assure me that someone will call me and NO ONE ever called. I am on the phone with American Home Sheild as I write this. I have been calling for weeks now. This is the very first time dealing with AHS that this has happened and I am not amused by their excuses whatsoever! It's poor business practice and not a very customer oriented company

    I have had American Home Sheild (AMS) for over 8 years and had had many service requests, including several plumbing issues, a replacement washer, dryer and stove. No other contractor has ever had a problem with the fact that our property address on file is for 29 and 291/2 because it is the front and back half of the same property. But this company got the referral to repair our washer and refused to come out, or even notify me OR AMS that he wouldn't come out because he "didn't have a valid address." So, he just wasn't going to do anything or notify anyone! When I called them because I hadn't gotten a call to set up a time, he refused, even though I told him to come to 29 only as it was the front half. He still refused, saying ONLY AMS could give a correct address, even though I'm the one who pays AMS and I'm the one who knows which property needed the repair. He still refused, so I told him, in that case, both addresses are correct because they share the same washer. He still refused because "it's not a valid address to put into GPS"! Do not use them, they are discourteous and unhelpful.

    Your company was here for 2 repair jobs. Kyle was the technician. He was absoloutly fabulous. In my opinion he knows EVERYTHING. He was pleasant, easy to talk to and fast. Every technician should be like him. Dont ever let him go. If I could give Kyle more than 5 stars I would do it.

    I have had no issues with Universal 1. They have been nothing but polite, friendly, knowledgable and prompt. I am unsure why people are having such a difficult time. I contacted my home warranty company, HSA, they sent out Universal 1 and they helped us with a few of our appliances. I have no hesitation about using them and told HSA I ONLY want them in my house to help. I had a few other contractors who were awful and came out numerous times, but these guys were great.

    I needed my dryer fixed through AHS and Universal1 was the assigned contractor. I found the service at Universal 1 Repair to be excellent from those in the office who scheduled the appointment to the technicians who were prompt, courteous and competent. Would highly recommend Universal1 repair.

    Bought a house which came with an HSA home warranty. I had water issues with my fridge so I submitted a request and got Universal 1 Repair as the servicer. I just had them out for the 8th time and not only have they not fixed the issue, but they've actively made it worse. On the first few visits, they replaced parts but had no effect. I still had the water leak but no worse off. On the 6th appointment, the tech replaced the ice maker and now no ice is being produced and the water leak was actively worse. On the 7th visit, I showed the tech the video of the water leak and had bad it had gotten. He then ordered a part, which in my judgement, had zero to do with the leak. When the "senior tech" they sent out on the 8th visit to install the unrelated part came out, he did not have the tools to properly perform the installation and he broke a non-functional plastic piece during the attempted install. The fact that they're still in business is beyond me.

    They are horrible repair service. They have come to fix my dryer twice. The first time they didn't fix it all. Both times they came the repair person was rude when he came to the house. The woman on the phone is incredibly rude. They also took weeks to get the part and then another week to come repair the dryer. It took a month before my dryer was fixed.

    The 5 Star Ratings above are FALSE SELF-WRITTEN by Universal 1.

    DO NOT HIRE! Uni 1 Repair Lied and Rigged our dryer. Our American Homeshield Warranty service sent a Universal 1 tech to repair our GE dryer. The tech diagnosed our problem as a heating coil. AHS then contacted us stating the tech reported our problem was overloading, (which the tech never mentioned to us) therefore AHS wouldnt cover the repair. With only 2 living in my home, we've never overloaded the dryer, however Uni 1 was now off the hook to complete the repair. After the Universal tech left, our dryer no longer turned on. I hired a GE tech, who examined the dryer and stated that wires were disconnected within the dryer which could have sparked if they touched, when we attempted to turn the dryer on. The GE tech, then ordered the correct parts to complete the repair.

    The Universal 1 tech lied to me directly to my face, lied to the AHS representative to void the warranty, then left wires unattached which could have caused my family injury. Horrendous!

    Nick dress very nicely with pair of shining shoes. He is more like an attorney or salesperson than an appliance technician. And when he comes to the house, he brought NO tools except a notepad and a smartphone. He took couple pictures and then greeted us nicely and kindly, but inside his heart he has no honesty. Actually the lady in the office doesn't neither. Full of lies.

    1. Like review by Tina K. January 29, 2018, appointment was 9-2pm, Nick arrived at 9am and he did not wait for you and will be gone by 9:05pm. However they will ask you to wait at house for 4hrs for him to show up.

    2. Like the review by Ben at June 29, 2017, without any tools or gauges he just pointed out the issue is power strip, claims he has looked at thousands of washer and knows the things.

    3. Like the review by Christopher July 7, 2016, the only thing Nick will do is to "I'm just here to diagnose", he said that in 2016 and still said the same thing to customers in 2018.

    wishing there was an "0" rating...THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM!!! I was told a technician would be a my home between 1-5 to service my refrigerator. I began receiving phone calls around 12:24 from Andrea saying the tech would be arriving early and wanted to know if I was home. I told her no I was not home, and reminded her of my window time period and that I was on my way home and will be arriving home soon. Well, I arrived at 1:07...no technician!! I was told by Andrea that he left at 1:05 and they do not have a grace period. Needless to say, I was furious!!!!! Can't believe this company is still in business, even after reading all the negative reviews. I'm seeking into major media attention to companies like this. I saved messages and recordings of conversations with Andrea. THEY NEED TO BE EXPOSED ON A MORE BROADER LEVEL THAT COULD REALLY RUN THEM OUT OF BUSINESS!!!! Tina King

    Absolute worst service provider I have ever dealt with, or heard about. 1st - it took them almost 3 months to fix my ice machine. 2nd - LIARS, lady in the office told her boss she left a VOICEMAIL for me about defrosting the fridge - however, that is a LIE bc I don't have voicemail service on my phone - so that prolonged fixing my ice machine. LIAR.. 3rd - after setting a time for their THIRD visit to my house, they call & ask us to accommodate them and change the time - which we did, we changed our personal schedule to accommodate them. THEN, they show up over 2 hours late. Seriously unprofessional on many levels - STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY if you want your appliance fixed in a normal amount of time, without the lies and wrong time frames.

They were always punctual, seemed to know what they were doing and took the time to explain the issues to me. While my one appliance required them to come out on several occasions, I don't blame them, I blame the appliance.

    Fix a washing machine

    If I could give 0 stars I would. I was told that a technician would be out to my house between the hours of 11am - 3pm. I work 5 minutes away from my home. I was told at the time of scheduling I would receive a text message that the technician was en route and that I could track them. Around noon I called the company and spoke with a woman who told me the technician was at another site and that I should be receiving a text message shortly that he would be on his way. She took my number down (as it was previously recorded for my landlord) and I received a text. The text said he was in a town away from Philly and was 40minutes away. I am a scientist and work in a lab and had to wrap up for the day to get home. I started wrapping up and receive a call 10minutes after speaking on the phone and the woman says that the man is at our house. I race home. When I arrive no one is there. When I call in a woman is incredibly rude to me, keeps cutting me off, assumes I don't know what I'm talking about, and refuses to listen. I finally get through to her that I had already called to check when they were coming and the tracking link they sent said he was far away. She then told me that the tracking link doesn't work properly and that it is broken and their responsibility to have that information be correct. She then told me this is my fault because he waited 6 minutes, so 1 minute over and he leaves. I am furious. The attitude and smugness that I wasted 1 minute of this technicians time... I called to check where he was to be courteous and make sure I was there to let him in!!! Then they call back and tell me he is there NOW and that I need to be there. We have a leaking washer that flooded our first floor. We moved in 1 week ago and our place is torn apart over this problem. This is an awful company with terrible customer service. It is a backroom ran by a few people that don't care about their customers. Avoid them at all costs, I beg of you.

    Our washer was broken. American Home Shield sent this arrogant creep out to fix it. He walked into the washroom and, without looking at the washer, said "here is your problem right there". He pointed to the power strip where the washer and dryer are plugged in. He said that supplies too little electricity, and that is why the water won't empty-it made the pump break. Note that these 2 items have been plugged in that way for 20 years!! Think about that.
    He refused to fix the washer!! I showed him the door, phoned C. Durkin Applliance Service, and within 3 hours my washer was fixed - for only $110.00. I swore that I would tell this story in as many places as I could find.

    I would not use them. I had my home warranty company set up a repair from this company. Then I called them and left several messages. I left messages when they were close so when the opened they could call me to set up an appointment to have some one come out to my house. Then I decided to look on line to read reviews on this company and I saw bad reviews. So I called then to see if I could talk to them about an appointment. This was done during business hours and of course no one answered the phone, so I let a message again. I was frustrated that I was not able to talk to someone one about scheduling an appointment. So I called my home home warranty company and they called Universal 1 Repair. Universal 1 Repair told my home warranty company they did not service my area. It would have be nice for Universal 1 Repair to at least call me to tell me they did not service my area. If I had not called my home warranty company I would still be waiting on Universal 1 Repair to call me. That is very unprofessional. Do not use this company.     The reviews on here are fictional. Buyer beware.

    These guys took our money and ran. Literally, they took $125 from my pocket and never returned. American Home Shield contracted them to repair a KitchenAid Range/Oven. This guy came out, was here for 90 seconds, took 2 pictures and left. We tried to ask him questions but he just said, "I'm just here to diagnose" to each question. It was like Marshawn Lynch had trained the guy.

    Then we call 5 days later. Nothing! They say they're waiting on American Home Shield. Turns out that was a lie. We called AHS and found out that Universal 1 Repair had only spoken to them earlier that day.

    This goes on for -- wait for it -- 20 more days. Universal 1 Repair claims that AHS sent them the wrong part, but when we call AHS, it turns out Universal 1 Repair had called just that day and ordered new, different parts.

    We finally had to call another service person to come out and fix it. And shock: Universal 1 Repair -- according to the invoice they left behind -- had misdiagnosed the problem anyway. And after we pay this guy $353 for proper work on our oven, Universal 1 Repair is nowhere to be found to give us our money back.

    Avoid this contractor at all costs.

    Pls check the BBB before using this company! My home warranty company sent Universal 1repair to fix my Dryer! It took over a month and 6 different diagnosis, until they got it right. When my ice maker broke my home warranty company sent universal 1 repair again, and Universal 1 repair actually broke my Refrigerator. My home warranty company had to send out a different company to fix the mess Universal 1 repair left us in. Be aware!

    DO NOT USE THEM. They are HORRIBLE. Our washing machine has been broken since October. After dealing with another inept company our home warranty company sent out Universal 1. The "technician" looked at the washer, started half a cycle and heard the squeaking. Without any further investigating like taking it apart to actually diagnose the problem, he just said "We'll have to do some research online to figure out what's wrong." That did not sit well with me but what can I do. Two weeks go by with no phone call. We call them and when they finally decided to answer the phone (which they don't often do) we're told "Oh yes, we have the parts." Well that would have been nice to know sooner. An appointment is scheduled for them to come out on a Wednesday between 9-1. My wife and I work so a family member took off from work to be there for the morning. 1 PM rolls around and no sign of anyone. We call and are told "Oh he is still at the first job, he is having some difficulty." No courtesy call before that or anything. We are promised that the service person will be there by 4 PM. 4 PM rolls around and still no sign of anyone. Call again, and after a few calls they finally answer. He is STILL at the first job. Again, no courtesy call or anything! So now our family member lost a whole day of work for no reason at all waiting for them. The best part is they didn't even reschedule us then, just nobody showed up AT ALL! No professionalism whatsoever. We are upset and get a hold of them the next day. The secretary apologizes and says that we will be the very first repair on Friday (today). We are told someone will be there at 8 AM. We have a friend waiting at our house for this serviceman. It is 12:45 PM and he is JUST getting there. We were supposed to the FIRST STOP. Once again, NO COURTESY PHONE CALL. When I call the secretary I get a BS answer that he got stuck in traffic. For over 4 hours apparently. Traffic reports are all green and the business is located close to where we live. On further questioning it was "Oh well he went out and picked up a part for a different job and he didn't leave the shop until 8:30." But he was supposed to be at our house by 8. They just flat out LIE! NO PROFESSIONALISM WHATSOEVER. I would NEVER pay for this kind of service and even though it's through my home warranty company I am STILL extremely upset and annoyed that they have no consideration for anyone else's time. We have already reported them to the home warranty company and I also plan to contact the Better Business Bureau about this horrific company. DO NOT USE THEM.

    I have an insurance policy for appliances and after waiting for two weeks for a company that didn't call or respond to my phone calls, I called the insurance company back and asked for a different contractor. Universal 1 called me within 10 minutes of that call and scheduled an appointment. Right on schedule for our appointment a very funny and chatty Nick came, asked me a few questions about the dishwasher and was spot on with the diagnosis and repair of my Bosch dishwasher. Friendly, efficient, and competent!

    Completely incompetent business. Said a part was ordered and would take 2 weeks to get in. Call 2 weeks later and find out that the part was never ordered. Finally the part gets in and have an appt for 10am. 1145 get a call that they are an hour away. 200 get a call they are 20 mins away. 315 I get a call that they took another job and will be even later. Only reason I had to stick with them was because my home warrantee place hired them. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!

    To Whom it May concern: We do warranty work for a warranty company. We are the middle man. We go to the jobs submit forms and paperwork to company. We give customer ballpark estimate of when we will get parts and complete job. That is not a guarantee based on warranty company supplies all parts and authorizations. All customers have a 4-5 hour window of arrival. They only here the start time. Its a frustrating process for both parties. Our hands are tied due to the fact that we have no control of the process.

    Recently had 3 appliances repaired under warranty. Two were nightmares. Wrong technician, wrong parts etc. Universal 1 diagnosed the problem, obtained the part, scheduled two very friendly professional techs (stove top was a heavy sucker) and fixed the product perfectly.     I am a resident in Canter Village, Newtown Square . Universal Repair plows our streets whenever it snows. I would like to commend you for your excellent service. Today one of your employees ( I do not know his name) helped me by moving my car which was stuck on the street and putting it in my garage.     Nick was great. Universal 1 was the 5th company to look at the same problem I've been having with my dryer for over a month. Nick instantly knew what was wrong and followed up with AHS to get the problem resolved. He took the time to explain everything that was going on with my Dryer.

    Fantastic! Nick is extremely knowledgable, kind, and considerate. My subzero was broken and he immediately diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, and fixed it. While watching him operate, I noticed that he pays attention to every detail, which is becoming rarer these days. I fully recommend his services and can honestly say that it is refreshing that there are still technicians that respect their craft.

    Nick is personable and amazingly knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem when several others, including SEARS, could not. He showed up on time and fixed the problem with my Fisher and Payel dish drawer. It has worked perfectly since. I specifically asked for him through my Home Warranty company the next time I had a problem with an appliance in my house. I called for one problem and just mentioned the issue with another appliance to him in passing. Same thing: He was on time, diagnosed the problems with the appliance he was there to fix and even diagnosed the other appliance with state-of-the-art equipment that the other servicer did not have. He fixed both appliances and explained how the appliance should work (to a non-techie like me). He definitely is my go to repair guy! Dawn

    Wow! Wish American Home shield had sent Nick out a month ago. He sat and watched an entire 58 min wash cycle. Then he found the problem but, it was too late . The first company sent out made a boo, boo.

    I waited 10 days for a another company's appliance technician to come to repair my refrigerator and when he did come, he was clueless and couldn't fix it. Luckily, Universal came within 4 hours the same day and was able to fix my refrigerator. The repairman was knowledgeable, polite and professional. I would highly recommend Universal 1 Repair to anyone.
