iContact, which is probably the second most popular e-mail marketing tool after Constant Contact, today provided a sneak peak at a new platform that they claim will “manage all of your social media marketing efforts from one application. “
Historically, iContact has differentiated itself from Constant Contact by providing a slightly better user experience (although neither quite stacks up to MailChimp in our opinion).
Based on what little information we were able to gather, it seems as though the new platform will help facilitate delivery of content directly to Facebook and Twitter (ostensibly separated from the e-mail itself) and also schedule the delivery of content through various channels.
It’s an interesting move that transitions iContact away from being an e-mail marketing tool, into a more broad content marketing tool.  It will be interesting to see how the new tool performs.
