Are handymen required to be licensed and/or insured in the state of Florida?

I’m concerned that unlicensed, uninsured workers in my area are doing sub-par work.

No handy man is required to be licensed, but a good handy man will be bonded an insured.

I would make sure that the handyman has an occupational license and definately has insurance, otherwise you have no recourse if something happens.

Marion County Florida does not have occupational license anymore. A handyman in Marion County does not have any type of license.

YES—Handymen are to have a Business Tax Receipt, registered as Sole Prop., LLC or INC. --Check with the County.

Liability coverage is better for you, and WC filing on record…To protect yourself, demand current paperwork, ask for references…BEWARE–of those who are insured, but have no record with the county—they are scammers----ChecK to see if their vehicle is registered in Fla.
