What is the best thing I can do to reduce the possibility of sewer water draining back into my fixtures?
Make sure that your venting system is not clogged. It is important to remember that you have to have air behind water for it to flow correctly.
1ST. OF ALL YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER CAST IRON ONLY LAST AROUND 50 YEARS IF YOUR LUCKY… IF IT’S NOT ROTTED OFF. USUALLY YOUR KITCHEN LINE WHEN IT GOES .HORIZONAL GOES BAD FIRST, BECAUSE OF THE CITRUS AND NORMAL ACIDS YOU PUT DOWN YOUR DRAIN… A SMALL JETTER WILL CLEAN IT OUT. AND THE TECH THAT IS DOING THE JETTING CAN TELL YOU IF IT’S ROTTED OFF OR NOT, IF HE IS GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES.
make sure your vents are properly sized and not obstructed, also that your drainage is properly pitched. If you have a drainage issue in Massachusetts you can contact us @ James N. Zaharias Mechanical Services @ 339-293-2451
