Can a landscape contractor build swimming pools?

Yes, but it depends on if the company offers it.

I’d say it would depend on the company. I know I do not install anything but landscapes. I don’t even do retaining walls, so it all depends on the contractor. You can always call the companies and ask if they provide you this service.

Depends on the capability of the landscape contractor. In the northeast some landscape contractors will subcontract each component of the pool installation to the best specialist available. For instance most landscape contractors will sub-out the plumbing, electrical, shotcrete installation etc. Even the earthwork may be done by a local excavation crew. The homeowner then pays a percentage to have the landscape contractor be responsible for all of the disciplines involved. This is just one way, there are many variations on this method.

Well I would rather hire a professional pool builder then a landscaper that may not have the experience to build the pool. If the landscape company has a skilled pool builder and has great reference and a portfolio of pools completed, then maybe yes. But I would say no - go with the pool company.

I would say as long as they have the license or sub out to some one who does. It should not be a problem, But I would make sure to know what they’re experienced, and likewise would ask to check their portfolio for past work.

There are companies that hold both pool building and landscape installation licenses such as California Pools & Landscape. However I would check not only that they have the proper licenses, but also ask to see their pool work in person.

In Florida, only a licensed residential swimming pool contractor can build pools. You are in California, I suggest you talk to an expert swimming pool builder to know the laws in CA., as well, to have the pool built right.

Most major pool companies have a c-27 license which means they do landscape and swimming pools. I also know lots of major landscape companies who have a c-53 to build pools as well.
